Saturday, January 17, the tasting of products, traditional for the Baltic Sea States, was opened at Latvia’s stand at the exhibition „Green Week” in Berlin. This event was organized within the Baltic and Northern European project Baltic Sea Culinary Route. Thus, for guests of the international exhibition “Green Week” visiting with Latvia’s stand became even more interesting and offering new discoveries.

The project Baltic Sea Culinary Route involves nine States of the Baltic Sea region – Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany and Denmark, which have pooled their efforts to acquaint visitors from Germany and other countries with rich culinary traditions of the Baltic Sea region.

“Although, the Baltic Sea costs are inhabited by many nations with different culinary traditions, still many foods and products are similar. These are rye bread, herring and beer, potatoes, butter, cabbage, dills, vodka, berries, sprats, smoked products, cottage cheese and pickled cucumbers. These are products, which everybody likes, and which give us strength to be active and maintain a lively spirit. I am inviting everybody at the “Green Week” to visit Latvia’s stand and enjoy priceless flavors and tastes, which can be found only in the States of the Baltic Sea region,” emphasized the Minister Jānis Dūklavs at the opening of the tasting of products from the Baltic Sea States.

At this tasting, Latvia is offering venison sausages, rye bread, honey, sprats, beer, quince juice, cranberries and other traditional specialties from Latvia.

It has already been stated that this year Latvia is the partner State of the exhibition “Green Week” in Berlin and it is represented by more than hundred companies, organizations and farms. Latvia, as the partner State of Berlin “Green Week”, particularly is in a spotlight during the exhibition. It is an excellent opportunity for Latvia to continue acquainting the world with food produced in Latvia and recreation possibilities in rural areas, to demonstrate to a large international community that Latvia is a beautiful and hospitable country. The exhibition “Green Week” in Berlin is held from January 16 to January 25, 2015.
